Police make arrests for man stabbed outside chip shop

Officers investigating the murder of a man stabbed outside a chip shop in Walthamstow, east London have made two arrests.

A man and a woman were arrested on Wednesday afternoon (March 10) in Hackney, east London.

On Sunday March 7 police were called to reports of a man stabbed outside the Captain Fish and Chip Shop. Officers, the ambulance service and the air ambulance arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people seen running from the area shortly after the stabbing, are thought to be those in police custody. It is believed they headed in the direction of Walthamstow Central train/tube station.

Although police were unable to identify the victim in the days following the attack is now thought that the deceased is Kelvin Ruben Francis, a 26-year-old from Grenada. Next of kin have been informed although officers await formal identification.

Inquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident and officers retain an open mind at this time re any motive. Officers continue to appeal for information and witnesses following the murder.

An incident room has opened under DCI Phil Rickells, from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
