Fears have grown for rapper Kanye West after he published a candid blog on the Internet speaking of his grief at the loss of friends and family members.
The outspoken star vented his emotions in cyber world last week following the sudden death of fashion designer Alexander McQueen saying that he felt ‘tormented’ and ‘hurt’ at the death of the popular designer who committed suicide last month in his London apartment.
He said: “With the loss of McQueen I feel like we lost one of the faces of modern creativity’s Mount Rushmore…Maybe McQueen felt his job was done because his last creation was the greatest of the decade. We are all so hurt”
The death of the designer's mother was believed to be at the forefront of McQueen's reported depression. West, who also lost his mother in 2007 went on to express his empathy in the post and worryingly he continued: “I know how it feels when the night demons come. We can’t let them control our hands and feet. Sometimes when it hurts so bad we just lay in the bed…don’t let the psychiatrists give you their drugs because it slows you down your wings.”
Donda West died after a botched liposuction operation. Speaking of her death for the first time a year later, Kanye told press in New Zeland: “It was like losing an arm and a leg and trying to walk through that"
In his new blog, he revisits these emotions saying: “I’m listening to the College Dropout (his debut LP) It brings back so many memories. When we made it I had all six parents, four grandparents and my mum and dad. Now I have my dad and my grandfather. Music is so nostalgic. Every song I listen to beings me back to when I first played them for my mom.
“During this new album process sometimes I turn the music up and drink and cry. When something sounds so amazing and groundbreaking I’m reminded of why I live. I drink the pain of two generations and breathe our melodies and messages.”
Kanye West re launched his popular website last week, and while the first day only featured his new video for song ‘Coldest Winter" and a photo of his model girlfriend, Amber Rose striking an iconic Grace Jones pose, it has filled out more recently with similar blogs illustrating his state of mind – the cause of much debate.
